Summary
The project promotes the development of the research capacity on the genetic resources of Lamiaceae species with anti-inflammatory potential, for their in situ and ex situ conservation through mobilities of research partner team members.
The mobilities envisages the interdisciplinary study of the species valuable for their bioactive compounds content (Nepeta, Agastache, Perilla, Lamium), of interest for researches from both countries, in the European context on the conservation programs for the genetic resources of medicinal and aromatic plant species in agro-systems and natural areas.
Collaboration by developing joint studies envisages the work visits in the field (spontaneous flora, experimental cultures/collections) for investigation regarding the geographic distribution, biology and ecology of the species, collection of data on the vegetation and environmental variables in the studied natural habitats; selection of the plant material for the phytochemical analysis; establishment of experimental cultures (in agro-systems and in vitro).
A major component is the experience exchange in applying phytochemical analysis methods (Thin Layer Chromatography, Gas-Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometer, High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and assessing the antioxidant potential of several volatile and nonvolatile (phenolic) extractives obtained from the studied species.
The results will be capitalized by attending scientific meetings and through articles jointly developed, with the perspective of future collaborations in international projects: FP7, ORIZONT 2014-2020, INTERREG.
